When most people think of martial arts, the Jackie Chan movies come to mind, or simply fighting in a ring. While some martial arts styles are taught as standing tools, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaches ground-based techniques and can be a useful tool to have if you are ever approached by a criminal.
